Amanda Wakeley AW2016 collection

It was the greats, the old masters that really made it this fashion week, none more so than Amanda Wakeley, offering up a tour de force in the cavernous surroundings of 2 Pancras Space (a show space if ever there was one).

Models 'contemporary warriors' stalked the catwalk in an eclectic yet decidedly simple collection full of standout pieces perfect for guests at a statement wedding.

Whilst bridal itself was not featured, guests were exceedingly well catered for in the form of silk mid knee skirts, belted tunics, (nipped waists a recurrent theme) and an abundance of fur inspired by the tough Nordic influences hinted at throughout.

A 'subtle androgyny' kept everything luxuriantly tasteful and most of all more fashion forward than has been seen in previous years. Take the velvet bombers (prepare to see these draped over editors' shoulders at the next shows), tops with pleated backs and silk jumpsuits resplendent with shimmering beaded panels, perfect for the wedding where guests are expected to bring their A game and none more so than the armour like embellishments of the red floor length evening gown.
