Les Trois Soeurs teamed up with Amanda Wakeley last Thurday to present Amanda's newest collection harking back to the romance of the 1920's in the elegant surrounding of Plateau's fine dining restaurant... and what a delightful result! Sophia Schorr-kon of Mandorla London effortlessly captured the morning, exploring the essence of Amanda's luxurious dresses and paying homage to her inspirational design career.

Oh the 1920's such a decadent and effervescent era that birthed the success of some of my favourite iconic women.  Coco Chanel, Louise Brooks, Josephine Baker and Greta Garbot all found fame and success in a time in history that channelled female empowerment and played with fashion in an outragous and challenging way. This is the decade that was the inspiration for Amanda Wakeley's new bridal collection. She has teamed up with the wonderful Les Trois Soeurs one of the UK's leading bridal boutiques to showcase her new collection at Plateau in Canary Wharf and I was lucky enough to be there to frame the day.

Amanda Wakeley is famed for the wearable elegance of her designs and is a favourite with some of the worlds leading ladies. The late Princess Diana, Beyonce and Angelina Jolie all have stepped out in one of her creations. I was curious to meet the woman behind such an influential fashion brand and we were treated to a visit from the lady herself to talk through her latest collection. Hot off the press here are some of my favourite images from the launch.

Taking cues from the 1920’s Amanda has balanced beautifully the elaborate detailing of this eccentric decade with diaphanous fabrics that give her dresses an innate and tranquil sensuality that affords the lucky bride who wears them an effortless approach to her moment in the limelightAmanda Wakeley makes sure her designs are timeless and does so by accenting each collection with a sensitive amount of inherited styling from different movements within fashion past present and future. This refined vision makes sure that each bride will be able to look back at her dress choice for years to come and always feel that she is en vogue.

Kassandra Wedding Dress

I loved this subtly nonchalant design of the Kassandra dress. As someone who loves to play with the mix of masculine and feminine in my wardrobe this dress really appeals to me. Amanda told us ‘ the inclusion of pockets give and incredible sense of confidence to the wearer’ I really connect with the the idea of having a wedding dress that is overtly feminine and without a doubt a statement dress but with the inclusion of an empowering detail such as the pocket.  The silhouette it creates is wonderful and it feels contemporary and classic all at the same time. Plus you can put your lipstick and perfume in the transformational pocket for your touch ups through out the day!

The Light weight silks and tulle Amanda Wakeley has used become almost liquid when they move.  The featherlight fabrics echoed the steps of the models in a way that would make any brides walk down the isle an unforgettable moment.

Goddess is definitely a word that springs to mind with this showstopper of a gown, the beautiful bias cuts frame the body as if water pouring off the skin and mixed with the geometric crystal and bead work make a statement the perfect wedding day adornment.

Texture is another strong feature of this collection and the graphic inlays of lace emanate an assertive sense of style and create a grand appeal to these cathedral worthy gowns. I love the the contrast between the delicate silks and rough cut chiffon that has been placed in panels amongst sparkling crystals on this the Lavinia wedding dress . The juxtaposition of the structured embellishment gives such an incredible finish and accents fluidity of how the dress moves beautifully.
